Sherene Chen

District 3 – Sherene spent over a decade in finance working for various investment banks such as Goldman Sachs before starting her own styling business. After earning an MBA from The University of California Berkeley, she started Style by Sherene in 2011 and has since Styled for various photo, video, print work, runway shows and clothing boutiques. Sherene is currently the Executive Director for Bloom Marin, formerly Image for success in San Rafael, California. Bloom is a volunteer-based nonprofit that provides complimentary wardrobes and life skills for men, women and children transitioning to a life of self-reliance. Bloom works with over fifty social service agencies in the Marin county area.

Sherene serves on the College of Marin’s EOPS committee that provides services to educationally and economically disadvantaged students to help them reach their educational goals. She is a member of Marin Charitable, a volunteer based program that provides grants to organizations that offer critical support, education and enrichment for school-aged children in Marin County who have limited opportunities. Sherene also volunteers as a Godmother for Saint Timothy Murphy’s School at Saint Vincent’s. Timothy Murphy School (TMS) is a State of California certified, non-public, not-for-profit special education school. The Godmothers of Timothy Murphy School at St. Vincent’s actively support the boys at TMS by fundraising and volunteering to help provide a safe, nurturing environment where they can build self-esteem, improve social skills, and renew trust. Sherene is also a board member of the American Association of University Women. She lives in Mill Valley with her husband Wilson, their sons Jackson and Harrison, and their Bernese Mountain Dog Bernie.
